The Indispensables!!!

The Indispensables!!!

In light of recent matches I have finally come to the conclusion that some players are simply indispensable in any team. These players are the core of their very teams without them the team might have all the possessions, hit the bar a few times, have an all round decent game but chances are that more often that not they always end up losing the game or maybe just manage a draw in some cases or a “lucky” win.

After watching the BATE v Bayern Munich game I have to say that without some players some teams are just merely good but not exceptional. I believe it takes more that great players to make teams but some players are just indispensable. These groups of players provide genuine creativity in the midfield. They orchestrate the attacks of their teams, unlock the best of defenses and almost always provide that pin perfect pass that often leads to the goal.

Case Study:  Like the popular “you never know the value of what you have until you loose it”. Bayern Munich a team with the likes of Ribery, Muller, Martinez, Luiz Gustavo, Toni Kroos and so on found it hard to beat BATE. No disrespect to Bate but Bayern Munich after their previous champions’ league seasons have really established themselves as strong contenders in European football and to lose 3-1 to Bate was very distressing. I think it was partly due to the absence of Bastian Schweinsteiger who was being rested but later introduced but that was too little too late.

Imagine Manchester United playing without Scholes, I must admit they win without him some times but that flare in the midfield would certainly be missing. With the list of possible replacements like Cleverely, Anderson and co, I think it’s safe to say that Scholes has been and still remains indispensable to the current Manchester United team.

Imagine Barcelona playing without Iniesta and Xavi in the midfield, even with the World Footballer of the Year Messi present there is still always something missing in the team. The midfield excellence is absent. Probably Barcelona doesn’t have it as bad as the Man Utd or Bayern with the likes of Fabregas, Pedro.

But the question still remains with the likes of Schweinsteiger, Iniesta, Xavi, Scholes, not getting any younger and becoming more injury prone who would take their places when they retire or are they just INDISPENSABLE???

  1. That's more like how Van P was to Arsenal last season
